But it is the one to which you are most eager to respond when called. But what about your true name? It is not necessarily your given name. I thought of this photograph as the representation of a kind of MISTAKE, considering the inner contraddiction of its message, as something that should (and could) be different. This request has taken me literal ages to complete and I am so sorry for that! It’s really just because I genuinely loved this request and thought it was so precious and lovely I really didn’t want to mess it up…all that to say I’ve rewritten it at least twice, so I hope it’s close to what was imagined when requested. Thank you for your patience and I hope you all enjoy! xx The entire work turns around the theme of the contrast, the contrapposition of good and evil, going beyond this. They teach them the importance of believing in a different Scampia and that this reality already exists and can be extended to all parts, fighting against any form of mafia. They try to keep children and teenagers out from the possibility to fall down in the web of the criminal organization. These, sometimes helped financially by foundations or free contributors, work hard every day to fight against the common mentality of this place. In spite of all its problems, related to an unsuccessful urbanplan, the fact to be the first drug marketplace in Europe, and others, like a very high level of unemployment, this suburb resists with the endless energy and strong spirit of volunteers and free associations. Well known to be the criminal organization’s base of “Camorra”. Scampia is a destitute suburb in the north side of Naples. This photograph belongs to the the series “Un’altra Scampia” (Another Scampia) How to make visible throught photography what is hidden ? It means, taking pictures without giving them a definitive meaning, to be facing a silent privacy. Trying another narrative form, that cannot to be put in a time space or in a tradicionnal space. Preferring a picture to decrypt than a picture given with already here, a resistant picture in a way. We can discover photographs impregnated with ambiguity. Tirelessly trying to translate the human’s secret, I reveal what can be private for someone. My concerns are about contemporary fears. Showing an intimate sphere where human disorders reign inner fits can be told. The debris of your memory are picked to be thrown light. Disorder of a blank look breaches in representations to allow it to deploy a gap of meaning, and thus a ground for the viewer’s imagination… The nature seems to echo this suspension. The characters seem to be holders of a secret or to be at the beginning of an event, of a point of turnaround. However, it doesn’t mean that we perceived the subject. The characters, just like objects, contain a shape of gravity. There are all these images in my head… all this stories which collide… mine, the other ones… We can sense the supposed implications of this 'mistake’ within the present narrative and the path in which it may lead remains subjective. There exists a sense of mystery in the characters stance, their position and location, and a dialogue on the real versus the staged scenario is suggested. In these images the combined associations of loss, reaching a crossroads, a wrong turn or mistake in direction are brought together in a sense of apparent unease and tension which relate to a greater emotional sense of potential displacement and their being a further depth to the scene, which remains unknown. This has often been referred to in historic and popular culture in the form of 'pathways’, a 'fork in the road’ or swaying from the 'beaten track’ and which has subsequently been related to moving away from conventional or directional lifestyles. The following images are about taking a ‘Wrong Turn’/s, in relation to an instances effect on the course of events which then follow, and the way in which lifestyles can take a turn in regards to a 'mistake’ or wrong choice which has been previously made.
